Cape Kidnappers – Voted
best golf course in the world
This course which sits high above the ocean with extensive
views over Hawke's' Bay was judged the best new course
for 2004 by Travel and Leisure Golf Magazine.
Writer
Brian McCollan said Cape Kidnappers “is not only
the golf course of the year, it’s now the eighth
wonder of the world. He said the former sheep farm was
“perched on fingers of land nearly 500 metres
above Hawke’s Bay, a vertigo-inducing course creased
by ravines and patrolled by gannets, belongs more to
heaven than earth. Shot values are matched by aesthetics
which are off the chart.” more

Gannets on the Move!
After a very busy summer season for the Gannets it’s
now time for the young to take their first flight. The
chicks prepare themselves for the long journey to Queensland
and the Great Barrier Reef. From April one by one the
4 month old chicks leave the parents at Cape Kidnappers
and head for the warmer waters of the Australian coast.
The non stop flight, resting on the air currents, takes
about 3 weeks. They will stay in the Australian waters
for 2 years then return to Cape Kidnappers to start
a new family. The adult birds fly to the warmer waters
of New Zealand to spend winter, returning to Cape Kidnappers
mid August. more

Edible
Arts Fest
March 2005
March 2005 will see another ‘Edible Arts Fest’
- Hawke’s Bay. This festival is a harvest festival
with a difference! It's
an exotic cocktail of static exhibitions, performance,
theatre and music with Food! We have a fabulous month
of creating food into amazing art works. We eat, we
taste, and we are entertained through live sculpture,
theatre, movies and exhibitions. We really push the
boundary of food, which both artists and general public
grasp with interest.
New Zealand
vs Australia International Cricket
Saturday 5 March
Trans Tasman rivalry at its best in Napier. Kiwis
just love to thrash the Wallabies and where better
to watch this happen than in gloriously sunny Hawke's
Bay. McLean
Park in Napier is the venue for a one day international
cricket match between New Zealand and Australia to
be held on Saturday 5 March. Another good reason to
visit our region, the sport doesn't get much better.
Long
Lunch - Napier
Sunday 13 March
Last year Napier made history when it hosted the longest
lunch ever in New Zealand. 700 lunch goers dined in
one continuous line along the length of the beautiful
Marine Parade Gardens. On Sunday 13 March 2005 lunch
goers will again have the opportunity to dine on scrumptious
food
whilst sipping on delicious Hawke’s Bay wine
in a beautiful seaside setting at this annual icon
event. Internationally acclaimed chef, Vicki Bruhns-Bolderson
will be using her flair and creativity to deliver
a menu abundant with delectable regional flavours
and to complement the delicious cuisine diners will
be provided with fine wine from some of Hawke’s
Bay Wine Country’s great vineyards. |
